| Join an online service like One Model Place and do TFP (time for prints) to build your portfolio through pro photographers - it's also a great way to build a good reputation. Do not be late, do not act like a prima donna/diva, be prepared, bring extra clothes/etc., follow instructions. Do not sleep with the photographers thinking it will get you more jobs, word gets around and we all know who trades sex for sessions - and they aren't taken seriously. (This doesn't preclude actual relationships, those happen.) |

| firstly you have to take this serioulsy....its not something which you do as part time stuff. You need to keep a repute and a specific style for getting good money and name.. As starting point you should start by making a photo-shoot album. Because how you look in mirror is different from how you look in photos. Once you have that send it to your local fashion houses.. | It really depends on the type of modeling, and the final use of the photos. Ask the photographers what they will offer first, that would be a good start. I'm assuming it's for portfolio work, or practice and not for commercial work. With clothes on, basic stuff, anywhere from 15-50 an hour is decent. The range is from where you live, and the amount of experience you have. If you're fumbling trying to get the "right" look, then 50 an hour would be too much. If you can change outfits in 2 minutes or less, know how to convey a look well, and live in a major city, 50 an hour is good. If you can do all that, and live in a smaller city, 25-35 an hour is good. I've had "beginner" models want 40-50 an hour, pass. A lot of the work as a beginning model is TFP, so you will be competing against models that do it for free. Make sure you can offer better images and looks than someone else. |

If any agency wants to bill you, tell them to take the fee out of your pay for the first couple of jobs they get you ;o) Do not pay for pictures either, good clear home snaps of you are fine, you'll need a head shot, a three quarter length shot and a full shot. | I design free websites for all types of models, and the first thing I would say to you is that are you REALLY sure you want to do this as soon as you do your first shoot those image can be view by anyone including friends and maybe even family, they may also be around for may years to come when you are older and have moved on, as long as you are okay with that and have thought about it properly. I am currently working with a woman in a very similar position the safest way to get work is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. WARNING if these images are of an adult nature most image host will not let you host them and if they do they make the images public so read the small print or host them yourself. However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you (we have our own server so the images will be hidden and never made public). This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download. Examples of work can be provided on request.
